Asparagus Sunday

Asparagus Sunday 28 April

Sunday 28 April is the day again: our annual Asparagus Day! All attention is focused on asparagus, the vegetable that is harvested from April to June and is then widely available in this region. North Limburg is the most important production area of asparagus. The National Asparagus Museum is located in the De Locht Open Air Museum.

From 11:00 a.m., Mr. Camps will tell the story of the 3.11-metre-long asparagus, which can be seen on site, in the Asparagus Pavilion. At 1:30 p.m., the director of the Open Air Museum de Locht will give a warm welcome to guests from Walbeck (Germany): the Spargelprinzessin, the Grenadier and Angela Habraken. She is the former Asparagus Queen, who donated her beautiful dress to the museum 2 years ago (on display in the Asparagus Pavilion).

At 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. the auction clock runs and asparagus is for sale. From 1:30 p.m., children can paint plates, make asparagus plates. The catering industry also pays attention to asparagus. Taste the delicious asparagus soup and special snacks. Scattered throughout the museum, various craftsmen show their craftsmanship. There will be music by singing duo Ari-ja.

Lots to do on Asparagus Sunday! Come to the Locht and enjoy.
